Dear families,
We are gearing up for Pink Shirt Day coming up on Wednesday February 28th. We are encouraging all students to wear pink on Wednesday to send a message about inclusion. I’ve been inspired by the thoughtful poster ideas students have been coming up with to spread the message about inclusion, standing up to bullying and being an ally. Here is more info about Pink Shirt Day http://www.pinktshirtday.ca/ The Island School trip for grade 5 and 6 students. Students brought home the forms for the trip four day trip starting on March 26th. Please give the forms a careful read and sign and return them by this Friday at the latest. Many thanks! Crêpe making with Mme Gooden! Good day Parents and Guardians: This coming Thursday, March 1, the students will be solidifying their knowledge of The Parts of a Text - The Recipe, by making (and eating) crêpes in the Staff Room kitchen. Please review the ingredients of the recipe below and let me know, Mme Gooden, ahead of time whether or not your child is allergic to any of them. To ensure the success of this endeavour, we are kindly requesting approximately 3 parent volunteers. (We tentatively have one parent confirmed to attend.) Please contact Mme Gooden for more information: [email protected] In addition to the ingredients to the recipe, I am enclosing the utensils that are required. If you can lend us any of these utensils, even if you cannot attend, it would be greatly appreciated. The family will be joining our local community, with their children attending Kensington school. The family consists of mother, father and two daughters, ages 4 and 7. Our class has been busy making six welcoming posters and all students in both schools will be participating in a Welcome to Canada banner on Thursday. The sponsoring group is looking for some final items to help the family get set up and feel welcome when they arrive. If you'd like to help, please check out the needs list on SoKind. The sponsors are aiming to have all items by the end of February. There is a drop-off point across from the school. Please send any questions about donations to [email protected]. Kind regards, M. Quigg
