Dear families,
It was an exciting week with our tour of The Scott Mission on Tuesday and our Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra concert on Wednesday. It’s been neat reading the reflections the students wrote afterwards about their experiences. We have a unique location in the city being right beside a shelter and some students commented, “I always wondered what was behind that blue glass.” Trevor who guided the tour said they always need shoes and kids shoes especially. I’ll keep a labeled bin in the class marked The Scott Mission and feel free to bring in clothes or shoes throughout the year and we’ll take it over. Homework This week’s homework is a writing extension of the rich group discussions we’ve been having this week about homelessness and how people and cities can help those in need. Here’s the Google doc link in case your child was away yesterday: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1r6mK3Hv7zjL71N_uVf18INBGoeF5ARWeYngTOmAxdlE/edit?usp=sharing There is a Math review page on the reverse with mental math questions. A note about homework completion I only received half of the English writing homework from last week which was to add 20-30 words to your personal dictionary. I give many reminders in class and we have a well established system but something didn’t work this past week. I would be grateful for your support in making sure homework gets completed. Many thanks.
