Dear families,
Our Class did an excellent job of leading the Day of Pink poster campaign. When you visit the school, be sure to walk around the hallways to look and the thoughtful messages and artwork. We had a fun week in Math of using different graphing methods to show the medal results of the Winter Olympics. We will continue our unit on Data Management and Probability until March break. Some ways explorations at home could be to look at monthly weather graphs: https://www.google.ca/search?q=monthly+weather+toronto&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-b-ab&gfe_rd=cr&dcr=0&ei=gzp3Wtr8CO6fXuiUjZgD And to explore making graphs using this site: https://www.chartgo.com/ Homework for this week continues to be the paragraph writing project on either an Indigenous group or residential schools. Please scroll down for detailed information about the project posted earlier. Welcoming the Syrian family! Students with their families are welcome to come to the airport this Tuesday evening to welcome the Syrian family. Noura (Aran and Lara's mom) has been communicating with the family regularly and she says they are pleased to pass on their arrival info. The flight is arriving at Terminal 1 at 6:35pm (Turkish Airlines) TK17 from Istanbul. There is a Blue Clock at Terminal 1 where the family will be escorted to meet us. The Lord Lansdowne welcoming committee will meet there holding the banner and posters students have made. I’ll be there, too. Note: They probably won’t come out until 7:30 or 8. You can check updates on the flight schedule at: http://www.torontopearson.com/en/flights/schedules/# Also, you can track the flight while it is on its way, to get the latest actual info on arrival: http://flightaware.com/ A message from Mme Gooden Good day Parents/Guardians: A big thank you to for your help with making the crepe experience a success! Should you wish your child to write the Alliance Francaise's age appropriate level of written competence in French (DELF), please let me know and I can give you more information. The deadline is fast approaching but we still have time. The cost is $80 per student and the test would be written at the Alliance's North York location. Mme Gooden Please make sure all Grade 5 Island School Trip forms come in on Monday. Thanks. Last but not least, a huge congrats to the Junior basketball team! All the players played their hearts out during Wednesday’s tournament and we sure had fun cheering them on. Go Eagles! Bon weekend! M. Quigg
