Dear families
It was a wonderful experience to go as the class to see YPT’s production of Beauty and the Beast. A big thank you to Lynn, Margott and Kristine for volunteering and making the trip possible! The production was excellent in every way and it led to good discussions and writing tasks about gender roles and stereotypes. Winter Concert We are in full production mode for our concert performance this Tuesday. The students have been working very hard to add their own choreography and musical ideas to the two songs we will be performing. Here is the invitation prepared by Mme Gooden: LORD LANSDOWNE WINTER CONCERT December 19, 2017 The class of M. Quigg and Mme Gooden have prepared two songs for you and we would like to have you present. When: Please join us this coming Tuesday, December 17 as we listen to the students showcase their talents! Start Time: 6 p.m. sharp Students: Arrive at in their classroom at 5:45 p.m. Dress Code: What you would like to see your child wear to a Winter Concert. We look forward to seeing you! - M. Quigg and Mme Gooden Homework This week had the best homework hand-in rate to date. Thank you for your support! The homework due Thursday is to continuing to practice using units of measure and a brief research/writing piece about why the 21st of December is the shortest day of the year for us. Hannukah A big thank you to Elie, Talia and Nate for their excellent presentation about Hanukkah. They put a lot of work into it and we are looking forward to part 2 on Monday! A fabulous French resource suggested by Mme Gooden: IDÉLLO - À l'Écoute When it comes to learning a second language, listening is really important. If students hear it, they can say it. If they can say it, they can read it. And if students can read it, they can write it. À l’Écoute is a series of 110 video capsules that are for classroom and home use. The first series is “Un Jour, Une Question” (One day, One question). For example, one of the videos in the series is “Pourquoi avons-nous besoin des abeilles?” (Why do we need bees?). It is a 1m42s animation video that is suitable for children ages 10-17 with a French proficiency level of A1/A2 on the CEFR. At home, your child can watch the videos and a parent can support the activity just like you would with reading. Open up the IDÉLLO website and watch a video of interest on À l’Écoute. Ask your child to tell you about the video and ask what he/she thought was going to happen and why. Ask for favourite words from the video. For more independent, older children, get them started and then, follow-up with an open ended question – like “what was that all about?”. The videos introduce all kinds of subjects. A good next step is to open the TDSB Virtual Library in French to find more information about whatever caught your child’s imagination. The Toronto Public Library also has an on-line French selection. Get started by signing up for a free account. It is all educational material, created and vetted by Ontario educators!open the TDSB Virtual Library in French to find more information about whatever caught your child’s imagination. Support for those in need To support our neighborhood shelter for the homeless, The Scott Mission, Lord Lansdowne and da Vinci has the goal of fully covering the tree in the lobby with new winter clothing items for kids such as socks, mittens, scarves, and toques. The Scott Mission has a well-frequented food and clothing bank that could use these items. Please bring a non-perishable food item to the concert. I went to the start Mission today to drop off some clothing and they let me know that they could really use peanut butter, pasta, socks, baby formula and diapers. I’ve arrange a tour for our class to visit The Scott Mission and see the ins and outs of the soup kitchen, food and clothing banks, and dormitories. We will be going on January 23rd at 12:45. They informed me today that they would be very happy to receive clothing that is still in good shape. If you have clothing items that you think would be useful your child can bring them to school close to the 25th and we will walk the items over as a class. We need to have one parent volunteer to make this trip possible. Thanks in advance. Upcoming field-trip dates As I'm sure you've gathered, I'm a big fan of learning beyond the school's walls because I see how much the students benefit from these activities and the follow-up in the classroom. Thursday, Jan. 11: all day (8:40 - 3:30) - First Nation’s School of Toronto In addition to the Scott Mission tour, I have booked us for a trip to the First Nation’s School of Toronto for a trip led by TUSC (Toronto Urban Studies Centre) which runs excellent subsidized field trips for the TDSB. It will be $6.00, forms coming soon. More info from TUSC: Indigenous peoples have a long connection to Toronto that was established before the arrival of Europeans. Through various morning activities, students investigate aspects of interactions among and between the Mississauga, French and British in the early 1600s from various perspectives (Strands A2, A3). Students then theorize the consequences of these interactions and analyze the positive and negative impacts (Strand A1). The afternoon explores the connection between early interactions and present-day issues in Ontario through a hands-on activity that focuses on the distribution of land and the decision-making process with reference to the recently resolved Toronto Purchase land claim. Wednesday, Jan. 24th: Tafelmusik - Trinity St. Paul's (Bloor and Robert) 12:00 - 3:10 (Free) Info: Experience a live performance of Tafelmusik’s brand new children’s multimedia program, Visions & Voyages, created by Alison Mackay (creator of JUNO award-winning children’s programme The Quest for Arundo Donax). Shaw Festival actor Ryan Cunningham joins us to narrate a wonderful program full of stories about life in Canada in the seventeenth century, with musical accompaniment provided by the Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra! Beeswax candles for charity It's an annual tradition that the students I teach roll beeswax candles and sell them at the Winter Concert. This year the money from sales will go half to the Scott Mission and half to the refugee camp in Lebanon where our school’s sponsored family is living. Please bring some cash with you if you would like to purchase candles rolled by our students. We will be rolling them on Monday (It’s a surprise for the students). LL and da Vinci Holiday Sing-along On the afternoon of the 22nd starting at 1:15 students will gather in the gym to hear the concert being performed by students in Strings and we will also be having a gigantic sing-along of songs of the season. Parents are welcome to attend! Quick reminders
Bon weekend :0) M. Quigg

Dear families,
Visiting the Onsite Gallery was a powerful experience for everyone. Thank you so much to Miriam and Alexandra for making the trip possible. Beauty and the Beast On Tuesday we are off to see Beauty and the Beast! Many students have not handed in their forms. Please make sure that they come in on Monday and that you have made the www.schoolcashonline.com payment or paid cash (the online payment is preferred). Thank you. Homework The English writing homework this week is related to the visit and the math homework is to practice skills in our measurement unit. I'm receiving homework from roughly two-thirds of the class. I highly encourage the students who are not regularly handing in their homework to do so because It is a valuable way for them to practice curriculum related skills. In addition to reminders during the week, the routine is that students mark a check next to their name when they hand it in. On Friday I read off the list so that students are aware if they have not handed in their homework. Thank you for your support in making sure everyone gets the practice they need. English writing homework for this week https://docs.google.com/document/d/10ssFs1ZoLtVfuH_99Y7qVB-TzLWtEwBQk3xiyX1wgKQ/edit?usp=sharing from last week https://docs.google.com/document/d/1FAgyLgAcUnsuH-NWTKvrEkZgGYRwH2m7oVy4vYBrBQs/edit?usp=sharing Bon weekend! M. Quigg Dear families,
We have an action-packed week coming up with a trip to the Lillan H. Smith TPL branch tomorrow (we had to reschedule for this Monday), a trip to OCAD’s Onsite Art Gallery on Thursday afternoon to experience their exhibition of indigenous art, and a live cello experience on Tuesday morning. Onsite Art Gallery Visit on Thursday Information from their website: Raise a flag presents selected works from a national heritage collection representing First Nations, Inuit and Métis art. Housed in Ottawa, managed by Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada, the Indigenous Art Collection is one of the most important and comprehensive art collections of contemporary Indigenous art in Canada and beyond. In light of and in tandem with Canada’s 150 commemorations, raise a flag represents alternative discourses and uncovers missing narratives from the framework of a national identity. The works in raise a flag focus on recent acquisitions, obtained from 2000 to 2015, which chronicle recent significant national narratives reflecting upon Canadian heritage, diversity and collective memory. Miriam (Elie’s mom) works for OCAD and will be volunteering on the trip. I know it's very short notice but if there is the possibility of another parent joining us, that would be ideal. We will be leaving the school at 12:40 and walking to the gallery for the tour starting at 1:15 and then returning to the school at roughly 3:00. Please let me know as soon as possible if you are available. I will be sending permission forms home tomorrow and I would be grateful if they could all come back by Wednesday to ensure that all students can participate. Cello experience Talia’s sister is an accomplished cellist and she will be coming into the classroom on Tuesday morning to play cello for the class and answer questions about her journey with music. Thanks, Nadia. Welcome to our class! Winter Concert - Mark your calendars! Our class will be performing in the Winter Concert on the evening of Tuesday December 19th. Please make sure students arrive at the school at 5:45 and meet in our classroom. The concert begins at 6. Ordering prints Thank you to those of you who attended the fundraiser at the Ossington or ordered artwork. It was a big success and we managed to raise over $6,000!! It's one of my favorite events of the year and I'm sorry that I couldn't make it. It was a rough week for colds chez the Quiggs. Please contact Eve Schifman if you would like to order prints of our class’ artwork [email protected] Library cards I saw many students show up with their cards last Monday and thank you for making sure they were ready for the visit that we had to reschedule. Please make sure that students have their cards for tomorrow. Many thanks. Beauty and the Beast We have one volunteer confirmed for our trip to Beauty and the Beast on the afternoon of the 12th. It’s a TTC journey to and from and we could really use at least one other parent. Please let me know if you are able to help us out. The form for payment is ready at www.schoolcashonline.com Kind Regards, M. Quigg Dear families,
In math we have started our unit on measurement and we began by focusing on time. We will be focusing on elapsed time this coming week here is a helpful video that shows the number- line method that we will be using: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Orta5xU6DBo Here is a Google doc link to this week's homework: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1XWPTSiukoe53FHQ4nqcW0eVOIY1fh12cwo0yuWfAFVA/edit?usp=sharing A message from Mme Gooden: On behalf of M. Quigg, myself, and the entire class, we would like to sincerely thank Esme's parents for generously donating three soccer balls, including pins, to the class and Sahara's and Faris' parents for their donation of Kleenex boxes. We were all very happy to receive these. One of the requests that was repeated at the recent Parent-Teacher interview was that students receive more French homework. I will do this. I request that parents work within their child's capabilities to accomplish this. Last but certainly not least, The Toronto French Book Fair runs from November 29 to December 2, 2017 at 789 Yonge Street. Here's your chance to get to see editors, authors, and books that you may not otherwise see in Ontario. As always, thanks for your kind cooperation. Sincerely, Mme Gooden 4/5ième et SK FI École Lord Lansdowne Field trip December 12th As a celebration of the students' hard work throughout the fall term, and as a connection to the drama, music and language curriculum, I have booked our class to see Young People Theatre's production of Beauty and the Beast. The class doesn't know this yet and I would appreciate you keeping it hush-hush until I announced it Monday afternoon. I would be grateful if you could send me an email if you are able to help supervise. We will be leaving the school at roughly 11:45 and returning at 3:15. Volunteers also need to pay for a ticket at a cost of $13.20. We will also be going to Young People Theatre's production of Salmon Girl on May 8th. The form will also cover this trip. I’ll be collecting payment for that trip closer to May. I will be sending the forms home on Monday. As of Monday after school, the School Cash Online form for this trip will be set up. Please visit schoolcashonline.com from that time onwards. If finding the funds becomes difficult to pay for a trip or event at any point through your child's time at Lord Lansdowne, please let your child's teacher know because part of the fundraising from our Parent Council is to ensure that all families have access to activities that support learning. Supporting our school’s Syrian refugee family Earlier in the year, Aran and Lara's mom, Noura, gave an update to both grade 4/5 classes about the status of the family of Syrian refugees we have sponsored as a school. Unfortunately, despite being sponsored and having an apartment waiting for them on Major Street, the family remains in a refugee camp in Lebanon. We are making an appeal to PM Trudeau, asking for his help to expedite the resettlement process for the family. During Noura’s visit the students were keen with ideas to help bring the family to Canada. They came up with the idea of sending a video message to Trudeau and they also came up with the words in the message. Noura filmed a short video with her phone and she has edited it into a one minute video message. Please see the release form I will attach to the Week 12 group email. I know it's a quick turnaround but we would be grateful to receive the forms on Monday.
Kind regards, M. Quigg Dear families,
It was nice to have a chance to sit and talk together about strategies for success. As follow up to some of our conversations, here are some resources to help students who need an extra boost. This is in addition to the essentials of reading at home for at least 20 minutes per day and making sure homework gets completed with care. To help find books at appropriate reading levels, I have scheduled the class to visit the Lillian H. Smith TPL branch. They have a fantastic children's librarian named Joanne and she is a wealth of knowledge about authors and books to match interest. Please make sure your child has a valid library card when we visit on Monday, Nov. 27th. I did some research into Apps for reading, writing and spelling and these come recommended by teachers. I am not sure at what level they are best suited for. Have a look at them either by clicking on the links bellow while holding the Ctrl key, or by typing the names of the Apps into the Apple or Android Store search bar. Many apps should be available for both Apple and Android. Have a look and see which ones will be the most helpful. Basic Practice
The apps will probably cost a little bit of money but they will be a lot better than the free ones that are full of ads and interruptions. French Reading Please look at our class blog under Pratiquez ! - français Our school has just purchased a license to the following program: Lecture Enfant Lecture Enfant offers hundreds of leveled French video books for students to enjoy from both school and home. By logging in with the simple username and password provided, students can select video books from a variety of reading levels to read and to listen to as the pages turn themselves on the screen. Students can also mute their device and read aloud, using the sound to check for pronunciation only when needed. Included are also word lists to practice. Students can work through 15 lists, building speed and confidence as they read and listen to the words that flash on the screen. For younger students there are also videos that focus on consonant - vowel blends (e.g., sa, se, si, so, su) as well as vowel-vowel blends (e.g., au, oi, on, ou, ai, etc…). Students are challenged to read faster than the narrator and they can select from three speeds of videos to practice with. Listening to the French video books on a regular basis for an age appropriate amount of time will help students identify new vocabulary, build confidence and fluency in their reading and assist them with the pronunciation of challenging words. From home, students log in by going to livresvideo.net username: ll (2 lower case Ls) Password: bravo Math resources Please look at our class blog info109.weebly.com under Pratiquez ! - Les Math This is a very popular math game for children that many educators recommend: https://www.prodigygame.com/ English Language Enrichment For parents wondering how their children can get extra practice with making connections to the books they are reading at home. This website offers many great resources: http://wosenly.com/reading-questions/ !!! A reminder of our fantastic school fundraiser !!! A highlight of this past week was our class’ amazing work at creating three poster-sized collective art pieces for the silent auction. You'll have to come to the event to see them because my phone with the pictures on it has taken a turn for the worse and is in the shop.

We had a thoughtful Remembrance day assembly on Friday during which our class recited In Flanders Field in French and sang a bilingual version of Blowing in the Wind. They carried themselves with grace and respect for the occasion. Homework: Please Note: All homework needs to be handed in along with the green folders (or a folder of your student’s choosing). I'm sometimes getting loose papers and that means students don't have a folder in which to take home their HW for the next week. I would appreciate a Wednesday evening reminder to your child to make sure this folder is in his or her backpack. Thanks for your help. English writing HW A remembrance day reflection on what war and what peace mean to you. interview a family member or a family friend that has been affected by war either directly or indirectly. Call or Skype them if they are not in town. Math HW Division: Study for the division quiz on Wednesday Grade 4 students need to be able to divide 2 digits by 1, with remainders. Ex. 27 divided by 4 Grade 5 students need to be able to divide 3 digits by 1, with remainders. Ex. 273 divided by 4 Practice website: http://www.math-aids.com/Division/ Students in grade 4 have had a preview of long division, however, they are not expected to use long division on the quiz. Students in grade 5 can use long division or other methods that they may feel more comfortable with. Long division seems like one of those rights of passage in school and students have been doing well with it in class by remembering to follow the steps. Each step is not difficult but remembering when to do each step in order is what students often struggle with. The way we’ve been remembering the steps is with a bit of help from English and the family trick: Dad, mom, sister, Brother, Rover D iviser M ultiplier S oustraire (Subtract) B esser le chiffre (Bring down) R este (Remainder) Here is a video with these steps in action: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GiiuZ8sfw00 Here is comprehensive video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LGqBQrUYua4 A message from Mme Gooden Good day Parents and Guardians: You may have noticed that in some weeks there is no French homework. I would like to extend to you that I will from here on request that students finish for homework, work that has not been completed in the classroom. This work will go home at the same time as that of my counterpart, Mr. Quigg, and is due at the same time as that of Mr. Quigg. Secondly, as the cold season fast approaches, we are seeing more and more the need for Kleenex and sanitizers. I would like to take this opportunity to kindly request a donation of a Kleenex box for our students or Disinfectant wipes for our desks. Thanks in advance for your kind consideration. Sincerely, Mme Gooden !!! A reminder about our fantastic school fundraiser !!!
A few reminders: -Progress reports go home on Monday along with parent-teacher interview times. -There is no school on Friday Nov. 17th. -Please make sure homework comes in each Thursday in a folder, thanks. Bon weekend! M. Quigg Dear families,
That was quite the action-packed week! Halloween is probably the most epic day of the year at Lord Lansdowne and this year was no exception. The costumes were amazing, the spooky snacks were tasty-fun, our in-costume class dance party was full of impressive moves, and best of all, the room 109 mystery story sharing was ( and continues to be) the celebration of much hard work and creative writing Talent. We will be putting all the stories together in a book for the class to enjoy throughout the year. A few students have yet to submit their stories. Please support them with completing this assignment. If possible, I would like each student to type his or her story as a chance to practice typing skills. ROM Trip Our first field trip of the year was success. We enjoyed having a warm day to walk there and back through the Gothic sections of the U of T campus. The grade 4 rock and mineral session I was with was well designed. We started off with a session in the lab to have a hands-on exploration of many different types of rocks and minerals, and then we had a guided tour of the dazzling rock and mineral collection. A good follow-up questions at home could be... What are the three different types of rocks and what are examples of them in your home/neighborhood? Next Week Next week is Treaty Recognition week in Ontario. We will be exploring themes around Indigenous treaty rights in Ontario during this week and at other points throughout the year. Please see these short videos for more info: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wt5tdGo1_vQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mVVD9yYCKiI Our next unit in English writing is nonfiction, informational and paragraph writing and we will be using themes around treaty recognition to explore these writing forms. We will be having a Remembrance Day assembly on Friday beginning at 10:30. Our class will be reciting a poem in French and singing a bilingual version of Blowing in the Wind. Families are welcome to attend. Homework We are nicely into our math unit on Division. The homework this week is to find many different possibilities for dividing Halloween candy. Students can by all means use their candy to sort out equal groupings (a less distracting option could be beans or buttons). We will be starting long division next week for both grades with more advanced questions for students in grade five. I'll send videos in next week's blog post with ways to make long division more fun and the steps easier to remember. Bon Weekend! M. Quigg Dear families,
Our Community Builders in session today was quite powerful. Some highlights were...
Some helpful follow-up questions to extend the conversation at home...
Homework: Room 109 Mystery Stories One of the best parts of being a teacher is to bear witness to the incredible imagination of young writers. I'm very impressed by the quality of storytelling and level of effort going into the drafts I've been reading. This week's homework is to finish the a final edited copy of the story and to have it ready for our big day of sharing mystery stories on Halloween. I have told students that this final copy should be their most careful work that they need to review it carefully for proper spelling, grammar and punctuation, as well as the story elements we've been working on - setting, character traits, plot: beginning, problem, solution (or mystery ending). I prefer a computer-typed, double spaced format so that students can practice their typing skills and make final edits easily. I will also accept hand written final copies. A reminder that students can access their their stories from home by using the same username (ex. [email protected]) and password as the one used in Tech class and in our class. Here are more instructions: https://www.google.ca/search?q=how+to+log+in+to+google+docs&rlz=1C1VFKB_enCA654CA654&oq=how+to+log+in+to+google+docs&aqs=chrome..69i57j69i60l2.7149j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8#kpvalbx=1 Spooky Snack party on Halloween In keeping with a fun tradition I would like invite students to bring in a spooky snack that they have prepared at home. It’s voluntary but encouraged so we have a fun, creative spread of snacks. There will certainly be enough sugar happening that week so please keep them healthy (and no nuts, of course). Here are some ideas: Click here
A Sweet Request Please keep the Halloween candy that comes to school to a small amount so that students can better manage their energy levels. This is not just around Halloween. Some students have been coming to school with bags of candy. Please make sure the refined sugar that come to school is minimal. With energetic thanks! Our ROM Trip on Friday Many thanks to our parent volunteers! We have enough supervision for the trip. Students in grade 5 received their forms today from Mme Coombs so all students in our class should have a form. Please let me know if you did not get one. Please return them to school as soon as possible and visit https://tdsb.schoolcashonline.com/ The grade 4 trip has been posted and I think Mme Coombs has posted the grade 5 trip on the site. Here’s a link with detailed instructions for using School Cash Online: https://docs.google.com/a/tdsb.on.ca/document/d/1twL3JbuMQK8pDHX3OlfVMsLCZIaGVPXrPdtjfwpZQY4/edit?usp=sharing The TDSB is moving towards this system and we appreciate you using the online system as well. Many thanks. Bon weekend! M. Quigg Dear families,
I hope you're having a lovely warm weekend. A few things about next week... - There will be Pizza on Tuesday. - On Friday morning Community Builders will be doing a workshop all morning just for grade 4 and 5 students. We are looking forward to benefiting from their work around inclusion and conflict resolution. Field trip - Friday, November 3rd Our first field trip of the year will be Science related and we are going to the ROM. The grade fours will be having a guided tour of the world class rock and mineral collection and the grade fives will be having a guided to visit organized by Mme Coombs. We are looking for parent volunteers. Please send me an email as soon as possible if you are able to volunteer on Nov 3. We will be leaving the school at 12:40 and returning by 3:15. Parent volunteers make these trips possible. A big thank you in advance! I will be sending forms home next week and setting up an online payment form for the trip using the School Cash Online system. It will be $16 per student and frustratingly, also $16 for volunteers. English Homework Due Thursday, October 26th Greetings authors! Your homework this week is to work on the draft of your Room 109 Mystery Story. While you write, remember to have your story map, setting chart, and character traits page to help you on your journey. Keep bringing your English writing journal to school each day because you will also have class time next week to work on your stories. There is no math homework this week because I want you to really focus on your story. Even more important than the length is the care that you put into writing a plot with a clear problem and an interesting solution. Here is a guideline for length:
If you are writing your story on the computer, be sure to write it in Google Docs using your TDSB account so you can work on it at school as well. Your email and access to Google Apps is in this format: [email protected] Here is a checklist for writing a successful story:
Dear families,
I hope you’re having a nice weekend. In math we have moved into multiplying multiple numbers by one number in grade 4 (i.e., 3 x 657) and multiplying multiple numbers by two numbers in grade 5 (i.e., 34 x 784). Next week we will be looking at word problems that involve making these types of calculations. The math homework is to practice using the standard method of multiplying these types of numbers. We will be exploring other methods in class to increase understanding. Fall will involve a lot of skill building for basic operations and we will move into more project and creative applications once students have a solid foundation of number sense. Here are some helpful YouTube videos for reminders about the standard method of multiplying these types of numbers: One number on the bottom https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FJ5qLWP3Fqo&t=42s Multi-digit part 1 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FJ5qLWP3Fqo&t=96s Multi-digit part 2 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RVYwunbpMHA&t=424s English The room 109 mystery stories are taking shape! We’ve looked at character traits, setting, story mapping and plot arcs. The English homework this week is to gain a better understanding of how using descriptive sensory words can help the reader understand the experience. There were some moans and groans about the blind-fold, but I think it’s a key step in activating other senses. The goal is to find three words per square on the sheet but for trickier ones like sound, 1-3 words will do. Have fun :) Indoor Shoes As the weather gets muddier, just a reminder to have indoor shoes that will stay at the school and also be used for gym. We have a designated shoe rack for them in the class but it’s looking a little lonely at the moment. Water Bottles Water bottles are a a big help for staying hydrated during the school day. I'll be reminding students to take them home often to wash and rinse them out. We don't have a good setup for washing our bottles properly so I would encourage your child to keep bringing his or her water bottle home for regular washings. Filling bottles regularly with water from home is also a good idea because sometimes our cold tap runs hot/warm. Halloween costume, food, and parade info - a message from the office: What: Lord Lansdowne/da Vinci Annual Halloween parade SK – Gr 8 When: 1:30 pm on Tuesday, October 31 Where: We will gather in the schoolyard at 1:30 then follow our traditional route around the block: leave by the Spadina gate, down Spadina, along College and back up Robert St. If the weather prevents an outdoor parade, we will hold an indoor mini-parade so that children can see and enjoy each other’s costumes. Parents are welcome to join us, if you are able. Children may dress up, if they wish to – it is entirely voluntary. We know that there is a powerful use of the imagination when children take on a new identity through wearing a costume. For safety’s sake, please make sure that:
Please do not send any food that contains nuts or nut products to school. This is particularly important AFTER Halloween. We have children here with life-threatening allergies and must protect their safety. We recognize that some families do not participate in Halloween festivities, for religious or other reasons. If you do not wish to have your child participate in Halloween activities at school, please let your child’s teacher know by Thursday afternoon, October 27, and we will arrange alternate activities. Bon weekend! M. Quigg |
